Located in a peaceful tree lined street, this beautiful Queenslander was substantially extended over 20 years ago. Our brief was to refine the extension, primarily by recreating the existing deck and re-planning the interior.

The key to unlocking the floor plan was to relocate the internal stair to the rear of the floor plan, allowing the stair to perform a dual function. Combined with the eroding of lower level walls and replacement with bi-fold doors, a seamless indoor/outdoor connection between rumpus and garden is created. Detailing around the stairs is crisp and somewhat industrial, speaking directly to the polished concrete floor created by removing existing terracotta tiles.

The result is a light filled, contemporary family home with a transparent connection from street to garden.
