The KO&CoARCHITECTURE team has been settling into our new home at 127 Musgrave Road Red Hill. Our office is in an 1800s shopfront that sits pretty along Musgrave Road. It was most recently an antique store, but it has had many lives over the years, and we are excited to be able to work in a beautiful space that is part of Brisbane's history.
The original shopfront has been carefully restored, and a contemporary, yet sympathetic extension has been constructed at the rear. A garden has been deliberately incorporated at the centre of the site, to provide separation between the original building and the new extension. By pulling the extension toward the rear of the block, the form and scale of the original building can be celebrated, and the original relationship with the street is be maintained.
