ewen's house

Ewen's House works to provide comfort, homeliness and accessibility through its considered intervention to the site. The new build presented the opportunity to produce a home with the capacity for multigenerational living, that connects to a central heart of the home.

The key element of Ewen's House is its accessibility. Designed for residents with increasing accessibility needs, the home works to accommodate a fully accessible space, to Liveable Housing Standards, in a typical suburban context. Ewen's House is a suburban family home, and it is an accessible home. Combining the family experience with a focus on accessibility, Ewen's House considers materiality, form and fixtures to optimise its residents’ way of life.

Moreover, the site is exceptionally well positioned for the implementation of first principle environmental design, which was a key factor in the project’s brief. The inclusion of rain water tanks, solar panels, and high ceilings aligns with Ewen's House’s intent of sustainability, using clean energy, natural light and collected water. This is linked further to the materiality and form of the home, centred around a bright courtyard, and frequently accented with timber.
